Designing the Obvious, a new book by Robert Hoekman, Jr., proclaims itself as "a common sense approach to web application design." While I haven't finished the entire book yet, what I've read so far is great, and it certainly seems to achieve its goal of helping designers and developers craft web-applications that are intuitive and easy-to-use.
The book praises the design approaches from Getting Real perennials Basecamp and Backpack, as well as offering plenty of real world examples from applications like Gmail, Squidoo, and our very own Blinksale. It's always a pleasure to receive outside praise for the results of many sleepless nights designing Blinksale, and we're grateful Robert took notice of our work (a photo from the book).
Designing the Obvious seems to be the perfect companion for Steve Krug's Don't Make Me Think, and if you're designing web applications you should definitely pick up a copy.
