Two things before we launch into the weekend. First, a big welcome to the newest Firewheeler, John Critz. John has been here a couple weeks now, but with the move and whatnot, we haven't had a moment to formally introduce him here yet. Hi John!
John will henceforth be known as "JC" since resident IconMaster John Marstall already took the email addy. Sorry dude. Anyhow... JC will be working a lot on some super-secret development projects in the hopper, and we're extremely grateful to have him here.
Second, JC's first uberslick contribution to the site is a handy OS X Dashboard Widget we named ColorBurn. ColorBurn rotates in a new color palette each day for your designer/web-geek pleasure. If you're looking for daily color inspiration from the guys who like orange, you've found it. For now, you'll need Mac OS X 10.4, but a Yahoo! Widget version is on the way as well. Be sure and let us know what you think.

Colin Scroggins says
Now that JC is there, I am going to begin expecting magical features to happen...walking on water and such.
Josh Williams says
I wholly expect the same. ; )
Michael Hessling says
Seriously, that's awesome. I love the Wednesday in Texas.
The colors definitely look different with the black background vs the white.

I have a question regarding BlinkSale.
1. Does a forum exist to post question regarding the product?
2. If I upgrade from the free account to a paid version, does BlinkSale remove the "BlinkSale" branding when I send my invoices. I would prefer not to have them see a footer saying BlinkSale.
Josh Williams says
Jack - A forum does not exist... yet. It's in development along with a few other new Blinksale features. And yes, if you upgrade to the Paid version, the Blinksale footer is removed.
Colin Scroggins says
OK, JC, after playing with ColorBurn, I think there would be definite advantages to referring to the archived schemes by name rather than by date.
JC says
Hey, Colin!
I think you've got a point there. It seems like the names would be more memorable than the dates as you look for past palettes. I'll look into that as soon as I finish the walking on water and magical powers features. [:o)
Derek Nelson says
Love the widget, but it doesn't seem to be auto loading the color for today. I have to manually select "Today's Colors" from the drop down for it to refresh. Is this the way it's supposed to work?
Josh Williams says
Derek, we're not having that problem here... Although I should note that it only updates itself every few minutes. So, if you just powered up at work, give it a second to refresh. We figured this was kinder than hogging you system resources pinging our server all the time. If you still have issues, let us know (and let us know what OS version are you running)...
Steven says
Just downloaded Colourburn widget. I love it - my biggest decision and hassle when designing a website is what colour scheme to use - with this great widget I just let someone else inspire me....
Josh Williams says
Just a note, ColorBurn has been updated to 1.01 to improve palette refreshing performance when a new day rolls over. Hopefully this lightens its performance load a little as well. Enjoy!
Michael Long says
Love the idea of Colorburn, but it definitely needs a "copy to clipboard" option that would copy the color numbers. Idealy, I'd also like to save cool color combinations to disk as a gif or jpeg for future reference.
David Hughes says
Hello. Regarding ColorBurn. First off it looks fantastic, but why is it Mac only? I'm one of those "web-dev geeks" that needs a little inspiration on color everynow and then ;P This could be very useful! Unfortunately, I'm not using Mac. Guess I'll go get the Widget engine.
Josh Williams says
David -- We're working on a Yahoo! Widget version. May be a few weeks away as the Konfabulator XML is quite a departure from the simple HTML structure of a Mac Widget, but we'll get it out there for you.
David Hughes says
Fantastic. Thanks.
jeanne says
hi - everyone here at the office loves colorburn - but where are all of the palettes archived and how do we get there? we have yet to figure it out. TELL US!! We are going crazy. thanks.
Seth says
I heart my ColorBurn widget, but I also crave 1) copying the hex values to the clipboard and 2) being able to see a complete archive. I also wouldn't mind seeing a sentence on what inspired the day's colors.
"I had thirty seconds to come up with today's colors. Josh was hung over and threw up, so....."
Just kidding, just kidding. That's gross.
Thanks, Firewheel.

Love the idea! Installed the Yahoo widget last week (Window XP). It worked great at first, but since the weekend, the color wells are blank, no updates, and nothing happens when I click on the chooser.
Any clues?
thanks!
Conrad says
