Well, after three (official) days online, our ColorBurn widget is now Number 2 on Apple's Top 50 widget list (we've also archived a screenshot). We've received a ton of great feedback, and of course we're completely thrilled with the response. If you haven't had a chance to download ColorBurn for your Mac, what are you waiting for?
If you're a Windows user, no worries... A Yahoo! Widget is planned. Subscribe to our RSS feed to stay on the up and up. What's next? You'll have to wait and see. There's more fun to come this spring from Firewheel.

Hey man, congrats! I think everybody else would be as impressed as I am if they knew the truth, that you run this whole kit and caboodle out of cushy chair at a random, T-Mobile-equipped Starbucks, and that John, JC and Brian are all just alter-ego versions of yourself!
So as I congratulate you and another success, the real question is:
Will the last man standing at the end of this "Identity"-esque puzzle be the little girl, or the maniac criminal?
...My money's on JC.
=^)
Janelle says
Can any of the above identities solve the "white white white white" problem?
Josh Williams says
Janelle -- Can you let us know what version of Mac OS X you are running? Also, are you running the widget behind a firewall?
Janelle says
Newly installed 10.4
Might have a firewall through the server but I don't know much about it... only two on the server.

FYI: not trying to make bad press about COLORBURN... I love the idea and would love to find a way to make it work on my system :)
Great for both web and print designers!
Janelle says
Also: the other computer on the same server just downloaded from your site and it works just fine... needless to say I'm jealous :)
Josh Williams says
That's really strange Janelle. We're looking into some ideas as to why this would be happening, but the gist is that your computer is unable to connect to the XML file on our server that determines today's colors.
That the other computer CAN connect to it is truly bizarre. Again, we're looking into this and trying to create some tests so we can pinpoint the issue.
Janelle says
Keep me posted and I'll try trouble-shooting on this end as well. Hope I can get it to work b/c it's a killer idea! In the mean time I'll just try to enjoy the contest colors! :)

I ain't no alter-ego! I hate coffee! For me, Starbuck will always be the smirking guy in the Colonial Viper.

For what it's worth, I'm running OS X 10.4.4 on a 1.33 GHz PowerBook and 512 MB of RAM. I have not encountered issues running the ColorBurn widget, but my number of widgets is minimal, and I did a reformat of my hard drive before installing 10.4.
Out of curiosity, I'm wondering if you can "broadcast" content that isn't limited to color. Not that a daily cleansing with a fresh color palette isn't enough, I'm just wondering what will be possible when you have all of us addicted.
Josh Williams says
Todd -- You raise an interesting question... one that we've pondered quite a bit lately. I think you'll just have to wait and see. ;-)
