If you've heard a lot about podcasts but don't know how to go about enjoying them, the process isn't as difficult as you might have feared. iPodder is a free, cross-platform podcast receiver which seems to work well (at least on my Mac). Creating your own podcasts is, however, a bit trickier. Look here for some helpful info. And you don't even have to own an iPod to partake in all of this stuff. It's sort of like making a "xerox" with a machine manufactured by Canon or wiping your nose with a "kleenex" that you pulled from a box of Puffs ... but I digress.

When I watch a b&w flick from the forties (which is often) I long for a hat revival.

By decree of the governor of the state of Alabama, today is Bo Bice Day. So celebrate, people. (This entry was added at the risk of frightening visitors into thinking that Sparkplug has sunk to the depths of pop pablum. It won't happen again. Bo's alright.)

ISOCITY is a nifty, architecturally pixellative isometric invitational. It's a concept similar to Icon Town - the original, more miniature version, which has been around for ages.

three of my favorite subjects: the Macintosh computer, digital audio, and what might have been. A long but fascinating read.

You may or may not be persuaded by its message that engineered foods represent the Dark Side of the Farm, but there's no denying that the Muppet-ified cucumbers, potatoes and other assorted eats in this video demonstrate some "most impressive" production values. Delightful! And now I'm hungry...

Never heard of him? Neither had I. Not only is he the star of several TV commercials (some of which are hilarious), but he's also the subject of a video game and he has his own action figure.

Self-replicating robots (of a sort) are upon us, thanks to the achievements of a research team at Cornell University. While the researchers hope to contribute to a future of self-repairing, space-exploring automatons, the real revolution here is that these caterpillar-like creatures seem to have already learned a number of popular dance steps — just take a look at the supplied video. Now there's a routine that even breakdancing Soundwave might look upon with a twinge of envy. Go go gadget molecubes!

It's unfortunately true that one of the surest ways to persuade an individual to do something is to try to prohibit her from doing it. And while it probably won't result in consequences anywhere near as dire as those brought about by Eve going off her diet, designer (and ersatz serpent) Mike Davidson has lured a few fellow Apple aficionados into trespassing all over that company's injunction against ingesting its latest iPod invention.
What, the logo on the back of the device—with its catastrophic bite plainly in view—wasn't a sufficient reminder of where this kind of unchecked bravado can lead?
